What Topic should I write my Current Events Paper on?

I have to write an 8-12 page paper on a current event (but not a general event, it has to be a specific aspect of the event). For example, say I was writing about terrorism, it would have to be something specific and current in the news. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
