Is It Worth Buying Celebrity Perfumes?

May 28th, 2010

Back in the day the realm of perfume making was that of the designers and specialists. There were the big names synonymous with perfume along with the other more niche perfume varieties. That was where it ended. Over time the jewellery world has changed and we have seen two different things emerge. Firstly, celebrity culture exploded and secondly, someone decided it would be a good idea to get celebrities in on the act. Whether it’s designers or celbs in charge of the fragrance do celebrity fragrances measure up?

Many do believe that celebrities themselves actually have very little to do with the perfume making and only provide a face for the perfume. Leading perfume makers have not needed celeb endorsement for year so do they really need it now. The fact that they never had to opt into it shows that they rely more on the quality of the product itself. We are now seeing companies using the power of celebrities to offer lower quality perfumes to consumers.

Of course some celebrities do say that they are a major part of the process from start to finish. Celebs do claim they play a massive part in the production of their perfume, for example Paris Hilton states she is in full control of her cosmetics ranges and womens perfume. In this case you might consider it. What do celebrities know about making perfumes? Just because you are well known doesn’t mean you have good taste, believing this is very arrogant. What you have to consider is the fact that with such a huge range available, there are bound to be a lot of duds.

If you enter any perfume store you will see that there are many celebrity fragrances available often the celebrities are just the spokesman not in charge of the line. Unfortuntely at the momement there are a number of celebs trying to cash in on perfumes at the momement. This can give buyers a difficult decision to choose the product that best suits their image but will sell.
