Michael Vick Says Be Nice To All Things Great And Small

December 22nd, 2010

In 2009, Vick was not the most popular man within the National Football League or on PETA message boards. Vick was operating a bloody dogfighting ring from his Virginia home. Some argued that Vick was an irredeemable sociopath who should never be allowed back into the National Football League, while others were willing to wait and see whether Vick could redeem himself. As the Huffington Post accounts, Vick seems to be convincing more individuals that he’s sincere about making amends.

Animal welfare now taught by Vick

Michael Vick is trying to right his wrongs with the animal loving community, even despite his success on the football field this seasons. At Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Conn., Vick most recently spoke about animal welfare and the mistakes he made by participating in canine blood sport. Being the previous owner of “Bad News Kennels,” Vick is trying to right many wrongs and making numerous public appearances to support animal welfare across The United States. As outlined by the Huffington Post, he is trying to teach students from his mistakes in hopes they won’t follow his wrong path.

Maturity has been key, even if it was forced

Vick had been caught for what was going on at Bad Newz Kennels, he didn’t just confess. Many believe that Vick would still be participating in dog fighting if he wasn’t caught. Regardless, Michael Vick says that his experience has forced him to mature and become more empathetic. .

“I didn’t really care what people felt about animals,” Michael Vick said most recently to the newest Haven Register. “I didn’t care about the welfare of animals.”

Today, Michael Vick seems to be on the road to recovery. Vicks was given a second chance at life that only a few of the dogs at Bad Newz Kennels were given, but at least he is trying to make up for past mistakes.

Baby steps toward empathy

The simple realization the dogs in his kennel were coerced into fighting – and that the entire affair had been reprehensible – has made an impact on Michael Vick, writes the Post. Vick’s decisions haunt him each day, he is even reminded of them when his kids so much as ask for a pet. Vick’s isn’t allowed to own an animal ever again due to his choices he made in life.
