Michele Bundy Alleges Attack, Gets Order Barring Sharpe
Original accounts from sources like Sports by Brooks indicate that previous NFL great Shannon Sharpe has stepped down from his co-host position around the CBS sports program “NFL Today”. Bundy, a woman media sources insinuate is Shannon Sharpe’s girlfriend, was granted a temporary restraining order in Fulton County Superior County of Atlanta to protect her towards when accounts indicate is “family violence” from Sharpe. At this time, Shannon Sharpe has not been charged with a crime. The legal action has reportedly prompted Sharpe to step down as co-host of the popular Sunday NFL television program.
Michele Bundy claims sexual assault
Shannon Sharpe has carved his way through a series of civil suits over the past 16 years, all of them involving women he slept with. In the case of Bundy, death threats and forced sex allegations are twisting within the wind. Columbia Broadcasting System has remained silent in regards to Bundy’s states, and all Shannon Sharpe has said around the matter publicly is that he will clear up legal matters before returning to “NFL Today”. Sharpe is at the moment involved in a child support dispute with a woman named Melinda Wilson. That’s not so violent – allegedly – as his 2004 misdemeanor battery charge towards Erika Evans. Mediation was used in lieu of court conviction, however.
Gridiron excellence vs. social ignorance
Bleacher Report casts some light on the question of whether this incident with Michele Bundy will harm Shannon Sharpe’s chances of being enshrined in the National Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Sharpe has put together an remarkable resume on the field, and he has come close in his first two chances at election. When Tony Gonzalez may have the stat edge among tight ends now, Sharpe should still receive severe consideration for his on-field accomplishments.
Good choices term does not element in
What should the NFL do – if anything – concerning a good choices clause in the HOF selection process? League bylaws spell out that only on-field adventures be chronicled when selection decisions are made. Bleacher Report rightly points out that former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1999, and Taylor has had numerous ugly run-ins with the law based on drug, violence and a recent accusation of raping an underage girl. All of these things inform us as to Taylor’s character, however his dominance on the football field was all that was necessary for the Hall of Fame.
When National Football Hall of Fame election time comes around again on Feb. 5, 2011, Shannon Sharpe will once more be a serious candidate for election. Will he break the plane of the goal line, or be sacked by Bundy?
