What exactly is Judgment Day?

Many are wondering what Rapture Day even is as May 21, 2011 is nearing. According to many Religious groups, rapture is the day that a higher power hands down judgment and good Christians are “gathered together within the air” to meet Jesus. Then, the end of the world will soon come. It will not be too far off from the day. Some think the May 21, 2011, time for judgment means that the chosen Christians can be physically taken off the Earth. The time was declared by a group that decided this was more literal than figurative. This is despite the belief that several believe it’s just figurative.

Previous date for Rapture Day

This is not the first time that Camping and other Religious leaders have named a Rapture Day. Originally, Camping named a day in 1994 as the date of Judgment Day. Previous religious leaders have announced Judgment Day dates. They were all guesses. 1988 and then 1989 were both named judgment day for Edgar C. Wisenant. There’s a Korean group that said when the year for the judgment would take place was called “Mission for the Coming Days.” It said that 1992 was when it would happen. Then 1993 was suggested for judgment day by many groups as 2000 was supposed to be the end of the world and it was seven years earlier. Future dates for rapture day were guessed upon also. There are many within the future still. Sir Isaac Newton estimated the date of the judgment would be sometime in 2060. The rapture has provided fodder for books, movies and even the most recent expansion of the World of Warcraft series.
