Saving money on auto repair

September 27th, 2009

We all know that getting your car fixed or maintained can be very costly.  When your car is new there isn’t much repairs or maintenance that you need.  But as it ages it will need more care.  So let’s look at how not to pay too much when you go to an auto shop.

In my auto repair San Diego shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.Things like paying for something way over its real price or getting billed for repairs the car doesn’t need happen all the time.So what could be done to avoid these things happening to you?  The best thing to do is keep your car maintained.Don’t wait for a problem to come up before you take action.  Keep your car in good shape.

Having regular tune-ups is one the best ways to keep your car in a very good shape. This will prevent any problems from coming up.  It also keeps your engine running smoothly.Regular visits for tune-ups of your car will save you a lot of money from repairs in the long run. One of the things caused by not properly tuning up your car is not passing the smog test.  I have seen older cars in my smog test San Diego shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test. This can cause a lot of other problems.

The brakes are another part of the car whih are getting neglected. The brakes are the part of the car that can surprise a lot of people. It suprises them when they find out how expensive it is to repair.  Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brakes service when they see how expensive it can be.  But if they had just taken care of their brakes they could have avoided it.

The bottom line is take care of your car if you want to avoid getting ripped. For shops to say that a regularly maintained car will have less is wrong.
