Most people who purchase a brand new car would want to maintain it that way. But your car is also subject to wear and tear. Because of that, you need to make sure that you take care of your car properly. The part of your car which is usually subjected to the highest amount of wear and tear is your engine. Because of that, you need to focus on your engine when doing car maintenance. Doing so will help you extend the total service life of your car. Read on to know some simple steps in order to make sure that you are doing proper maintenance on your car’s engine.

First, it is important that you change your oil regularly. The oil on your engine is what makes your engine perform properly without any problems. It lubricates the parts of the engine to ensure that they are performing at optimum levels. As you use your car, it may have some contaminants on the engine which is not good for it. Because of that, it would be best if you regularly change the oil every 3000-5000 miles. This is a simple but important step we share with clients of our San Diego Amsoil dealer company.

Next, it would be best if you also regularly check the oil. This is because carbon deposits usually build up as your car is being used. A good way for you to make sure your oil is still good is to check the color itself. It is important that you make sure that the color of the oil is not too dark because a dark color means that there is a lot of deposits inhibiting the performance of your engine. This is another thing you have to do that we tell our clients of our Amsoil synthetic oil shop.

Finally, you have to listen to the engine itself. It would help you gauge the way your engine performs on a regular basis. Your car’s engine should sound fine whenever you start it up. Your engine will actually tell you by the way it sounds if there is anything wrong with it. This is something you have to pay attention to as we do in our Amsoil transmission fluidservice.

These are some of the things you can do in order to make sure that your car will continue to perform properly. Making sure that your car’s engine is maintained properly will help increase the lifespan of your car. This will help you in terms of increasing your savings, as it will lessen the costs you will spend on your car.

How to get more out of your transmission

One of the repairs that will cost you a lot on a car is having the transmission done.  It is one of those repairs you hate to hear you have to do.  So of course most people want to know how to make it last longer.  Or they want to know if it is even possible. Like most things it is possible. You can do things that will help it last longer and that is by taking care of it.  But here are more specific things you can do to make your transmission last longer.

First thing you always want to do is maintain proper fluid level.Just like most things in your vehicle you want to have your fluids at the right level.  But with a transmission it is crucial if you want your car to last longer.  Whenever a client takes there car in to the La Costa transmission repair shop I run I always check their fluids.I make sure to suggest to them to keep a watchful eye on their fluid levels. If they try to operate their car with low fluid levels they are going to ruin their transmission.Or it will not give them as much life as they want.

Second thing they can do is that heat kills transmissions. So you are going to want to find ways to get your transmission to run cooler. One of the ways that work best is by adding in some transmission cooler.  You can easily find it at most auto parts dealers.  Of course when clients come and bring their cars in to our Vista auto repair shop we add it in also. This gives the transmission the ability to run cooler.

Lastly here is one that is easy.Don’t ever try to shift the gears while your car is moving. You will be shocked at how many people do ruin their vehicles because they shifted the gear while the car was in motion.  I am not because we see it all the time in our La Costa auto repair shop.People will have their cars brought in and they will have ruined transmissions because of this very thing.

Auto repair maintenance and it’s importance

One thing a lot of people are unaware of is how important your car’s maintenance is.Wel don’t really value how important these cars are that we use to drive around in.We don’t even seem aware that our safety is at risk whenever we go out. Plus they don’t realize our car’s safety is on the line whenever we drive.  So here are the top 2 auto repair jobs for your car.

First off it is important for the overall health of your car to always do tuneups. What I am talking about is making sure your car is on schedule for regular tuneups.  As mentioned your car’s are big investments. If you don’t make an effort to care for it you are in danger of ruining it.  I have seen many clients ruin their vehicle and take it into my auto repair San Diego shop after the fact.  I see that if they had just performed some routine maintenance, the problem may never have happened.

Another reason for regular tuneups is you have your car running cleaner. With such a strong emphasis to cleaner air through cleaner emmissions it is really important.Because what will happen is if you don’t care for your car you will have a good chance of failing a smog check.  I have seen older cars that when taken care of pass with flying colors in my smog test San Diego shop by doing regular tune ups.I have also witnessed the opposite way as well.Cars that didn’t have regular care are usually the ones that will fail.

Finally a very important part to your car is the brakes. But most people don’t even give it a second thought most of the time.  By neglecting your brakes and not maintaining it you risk bigger repair costs.  In my San Diego brake service I see cars have expensive brake repair jobs because they didn’t do simple maintenance. By doing some regular checking of their brakes.  Or having it checked regularly they could have saved a lot of money.

You can check for transmission problems at home

One auto repair for your car that is very expensive is doing some transmission repair. It is a huge part of your automobile.Making sure to care for it is important.By making sure your car is taken care of you will save yourself a little bit of money.  Since you can’t fix it yourself here are some ways to check it at home.By having some of the checking done at home you can see if it needs to be brought in.

First off since I own a Vista auto repair shop I know how expensive transmission repairs can be.  So I always tell my clients to check a couple of things first.  This way they can make sure they need to come in.First thing they can check is the fluid.  The fluid should be clear.  If it is black or dark that is a sign of a problem and they need to take their car in.

Second thing they can check at home is to check the gear shifting.  You do this by moving your gear from park to drive.Or you can shift it from park to reverse.  What you are looking for is for the gears to shift smoothly. What you hope doesn’t happen is a jerking motion. If you notice that there is jerking, this is a bad sign that there is a problem with your transmission.  In my La Costa transmission repair shop this is one of the big signs of transmission problems.A bunch of cars that were taken in have this problem.

Finally you can check for any leaks of your transmission fluid. This is something you can check with your dipstick. But you won’t be able to tell unless you do this checking regularly.  I advise all my customers in my La Costa auto repair shop to always check your fluids.  People are familiar with checking for oil.But their transmission fluid is something they need to check also.  This way they can tell if their fluid is leaking.

If you perform these steps on your car you are making sure your transmission stays in good condition.
