What Subjects Are Being Talked About By Motorists In The UK?
There are numerous ways to track trends online, and looking into the trends of motorists in the UK, the same few subjects come up time and time again.
So what are most UK motorists talking about?
Bringing down the drink-drive limit
There are a lot of motorists talking about this idea on the internet, and although some recent research points to most people agreeing with the idea, it seems to be pretty much split online. Most people seem to think that whilst it’s a good idea, it would make very little impact on road safety, claiming that the police do not have the facilities and budget necessary to properly enforce the law.
Car hiring
It would appear that car hiring is becoming far more popular in the UK than it ever has been before. According to some of the people discussing the topic online, the ease of car leasing coupled with the fact that you can cheaply hire cars you would otherwise never be able to afford has made it extremely popular. Audi contract hire and BMW contract hire both appear to have risen dramatically. This could be down to the fact that in the current economic climate, people that may have bought one of these expensive models in the past are now hiring them just for when they’re needed instead.
Increasing the speed limit on motorways to 80mph
A considerable number of people seem to be discussing the speed limit on UK motorways. There appears to be a split between people who think the limit should be raised and those who disagree. Those who agree with the increase in speed limit (up to 80mph from 70mph) would help in alleviating congestion on British motorways, whereas others suggest it would simply encourage people to push 90mph.
Getting rid of the tax disc
Lots of people in the UK think the tax disc should be abolished, believing it would save both time and money if it was scrapped. The DVLA have set up complex systems to keep track of tax payments, but the system costs a lot of money to run, which some say makes the tax disc pointless. The majority of people do appear to be in favour of scrapping the tax disc, believing the money saved could be better spent on maintaining the UK road network.
