Stock Photography 101

Stock photography is becoming a common source of money these days. This sideline is a wonderful way to earn extra cash. Isn’t it nice that you get to enjoy your job since you have to take shots of the world around you and the events that are taking place. On this page, you will learn tips on how to take photos you can use for stock photography.

Always capture images that make a story. As we all know, photos can tell a story on their own so it is quite a feat to capture such images. Although this is the digital age and we have lots of space for photos, you must also use your head when taking photos. This idea will help you make great photos you can use to sell for stock photography.

National costumes and dances make for a great subject when  you are traveling abroad. These types of photographs are a big hit in this industry. Costumed peoples in their native countries will surely create a lovely subject for your photography album.

Now,having a thing or an object as your subject demands a different approach and will need a plain solid background. The reason is that you get a close up and focused image of the item. Make sure that you are highlighting your object and not the background. Also please check that the background color is not the same as the object’s color. Most experts will recommend using white as background.

Last, but not the least; be very creative with your captions. As we have said earlier, photos contain stories that are unique to every viewer so be very creative with your captions. Make sure that the title is apt and catching since people will create a story around that title. Choose a one of a kind caption to attract more clients.

So there you are, just follow these tips so that you can create your very own photography stock album. Always make sure that the photos are based on reality so that clients are attracted.

You should want to improve your skills whether you are an amateur photographer or a professional one.Because all the photos that you would take captures a unique moment. And since they are once in a moment shots then you might as well take a good shot of it. Well here are some ways you can improve as a photographer.

Well in my practice as a wedding photographer San Diego I do many weddings. And weddings are very important events. This is a day where there would be lots of joyful moments. But it can also bring a lot of stress and pressure. And one job that can give a lot of pressure to a person is the job of capturing photos of the happy moments during that day.And you should want to immortalize the events during that day.  And the only way you can do that is if you get better.

Practicing to take shots is one way to get better.  I don’t mean to practice at a paid wedding. No, you should not be practicing at events where you are getting paid but at events where you take shots for free.  That way you can be creative and really go all out.  I have done this many times as a San Diego photographer.  Of course you won’t be able to take the usual poses unless you know the bride and groom. But, nevertheless, there are still great shots that await you.

Entering a photo competition is another way you can improve your skills.Competitions are a good way of bringing out the best in a person.  Contests are a great way for you to try and perform your best. And after the competition what’s good is that you can compare your work to other’s work . Doing San Diego portrait photographer this has helped me see where I need to improve in as well as see my strengths.  Plus if you win you should win a nice prize.

So those are some tips you can do to improve your skills. As a professional your goal should be to become the best at the profession or hobby you have taken.

For most people the wedding day is going to be the biggest thing to happen in their life. For quite a few people they will be spending thousands of dollars. A few people even plan to travel beyond their cities to different locations. One of the places that is great to have a wedding is San Diego.  Let’s take a look at a couple of reasons.

When most couples start laying out their wedding plans, the location is one of the important things to consider.  For those couples that can afford it going to a different city is an exciting option.  San Diego is one of those cities that come to mind for a few reasons.  Now of course this is going to come from first hand experience working with a lot of couples as a San Diego photographer. So the experience I have gives a big insight.

One of the major reasons is the weather.  Most weddings are done in the summer. Well in the summer most places are going to be very hot. One of those places that is bearable is San Diego. The weather is really very comfortable on the coast.  This also is a great reason because of your photography.  As a San Diego wedding photographer I appreciate good weather.  It allows fantastic photos to be taken. It gives you an environment that is a great shooting arangement. Where the wedding party isn’t too uncomfortable in the heat.

Another thing to thing about is San Diego is a great place to have an event. It has a lot of very good hotels that will house your guests.  It has plenty of activities so your guests can turn it into a mini vacation. Doing event photography San Diego has allowed me to see how this works out beautifully. Make no mistake a wedding is a huge eventSo the work that you perform is really a form of event photography.  San Diego offers a great location for this.

Hopefully these couple of insights will allow you to make a better decision when choosing your wedding location.

Tips to capturing great wedding photos

The photographer has one of the most important jobs during a wedding. That person is tasked to chronicle the events during that day by taking pictures.  They are not just given the job of taking pictures of that special day.  But they are also given the job of making it magical.Or at least every photographer should keep that in mind.So here are some words of advice for you to be able to make weddings magical.

First of all as a San Diego photographer one of the best pieces of advice is to try and have the wedding shots during the best lighting.  Now when is the best time to take wedding shots. That is arguable.  But most photographers agree if you can take shots early morning it is good.Although it is also nice to capture photos on a late afternoon.  That way you don’t get the sun when it is highest.  This allows you take good quality photos.

Second as a San Diego wedding photographer, I make sure to know the schedule of events. It is important to have the knowledge about the flow of events.  This allows the photographer to get ready to capture those moments.Anticipated shots are possible when a photographer knows the flow of the wedding program. Not only the portrait shots but also the candid ones. What truly capture the special moments in the wedding are the candid shots.

Finally doing San Diego photographer you should always be prepared. They should see to it that they bring with them extra films or memory sticks.  They need to make sure they have backup cameras. A backup is a must for any equipment that can be broken. The worst thing you wouldn’t want to happen as a photographer is when one of your equipments break. It would be a horrible thing to miss capturing special moments in the wedding if one of your equipments break. The generel rule is to be always prepared. If you do that you will be assured that you will not encounter problems in capturing photos for that eventful day.

Avoiding Disasters on Wedding Days

July 18th, 2009

Most couples making wedding day plans have a lot of things that they do take into consideration.  They think about coordinating the date for vacation times. Or they coordinate the wedding day for the family to be able to make it into town. Or they make plans according to the availability of the church or restaurant.

But one of the biggest things they fail to plan for on the wedding day is the photographer.  This is no small matter.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you think about the fact the photos are going to be the thing that captures that day for a lifetime.

So what are the key factors to consider when planning with the photographer in mind.  The time and the date.

Let’s start with the time.  How many people do you think would want their photographer to rush taking the photos?  I am pretty sure most people will not raise their hand to that.

Well without even thinking about your photographer, a lot of times couples will do just that. The couple will end up rushing the photographer to get all the shots in.

How so you say? Well let’s say, the couple makes the ceremony between 1-2 pm.  With the reception starting at 2:30.  How many shots do you think the photographer can realistically get in with only half an hour to work with? Not that many.

Worse yet, what if he does get all the shots? Do you think they are going to take good quality shots when they are rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the wedding and reception with enough time in between to take the photos.

The second thing to think about when doing your planning is to keep the photographer’s availability in mind.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. If you do deal with a large photo company, they very well could have several photographers on staff.

Well making wedding plans without thinking about the availability of the photographer could be a nightmare.  Because if you book that special day and don’t make sure that the actual photographer will be available, when your wedding day comes you might be shocked to find someone totally different.

This can happen when dealing with a large photographer company. You may not even realize that they have a staff of photographers and if the photographer you liked is booked, unless you ask, they might not tell you.  When your wedding day comes, they might just outsource their work or a second rate photographer might show up.

So be prepared and don’t let this happen.Making plans for your wedding day is special.  Make sure you plan it also with your wedding photographer in mind.
