Why do you think this inauguration is looking to be such a big deal?

January 21st, 2009
Time travler asked:

I mean, all inaugurations are big fancy parties and wonderful events, but this one has way more publicity then any I have ever seen. Heck it is more then a month away and the media is making it like it’s the biggest news event of the past 30 years. Why? For most of us, it will be just another day wouldn’t it?

It’s kind of a big deal when for the first time in US history a man who is not white has been elected as President. It’s historic. Was it a female who won, it would be the same thing. Plus a lot of people really like Obama, and really **** Bush.

Call me a cynic, maybe, but I bet if things went differently in November and we were instead about to swear in the first woman Vice President, there wouldn’t be as much awe-struck Media swooning about the hisorical moment that was about to happen.

BECAUSE HE IS BLACK. what else is there. Now we got a brotha (kinda) and it’s supposed to historic? How many of these have we had?
I am not going to watch, I have no interest, not because it is him, but because I don’t watch meaningless tv.
